Press release..... .. Thursday 20th August 2009 PERFECT HARMONY
On August 14th leading Music Transport specialist Redburn Transfer and Logistics and Container giant Deben Transport announced that they have merged. Redburn have been established in the music sector for 28years and as a family have been in haulage in Enfield for nearly 140 years. The merger with Deben has many benefits to Redburn Transfer and its long list of celebrity customers. The merger now potentially gives Redburn access to over 150 additional tractor units and trailers along with the infrastructure and back up associated with a company as large as Deben.
Deben, although mainly involved in container traffic, have also been involved in moving and shipping sea freight containers across Europe for music business clients arriving and returning to the USA and other markets. They therefore have many years of experience within the specialist sector that Redburn operates. Deben has UK depots in Felixstowe, Manchester, Hull and Southampton. They can offer further support to Redburn in the UK and throughout Europe through its association with many leading players in haulage and logistics.
Since the merger Redburn Transfer has already taken delivery of 3 Volvo FH12 Euro 5 tractor units and is in the process of ordering additional tractor units and trailers for delivery later this year to compliment the existing fleet. Deben has over 30 trucks on order for 2010 and these will now be built to cater for both sides of the business.
Chris Redburn, a former 70’s pop star himself, said “it became apparent to me earlier this year, when I was forced to turn down several tours for major artists, some of whom we had worked with in the past and that wanted to use our services, that we were turning away good work simply because we could not cope with the volumes being offered to us. We obviously needed to expand and not just by a couple of trucks. Although we were very aware of Deben transport, once we were introduced, the idea of a merger was an obvious way forward for both companies. The merger will now enable us to operate with the number of trucks that are needed during any given period to get the job done. This makes us potentially one of the biggest players in the sector although this is not our main aim. Chris Redburn has always tried to maintain a very high level of quality of service and this has and always will be our main objective and intention of the company. Paul Dawson the MD of Deben will be using his expertise in logistics and will work very closely with Chris Redburn to achieve this goal. Paul Dawson started Deben Transport in 1987 and it has grown to be one of the biggest independent container hauliers in the UK with a fleet of 150 trucks. Ivan Chittock the groups Finance Director said “the merger of Redburn and Deben is a match made in heaven. The joint opportunities to improve asset utilisation are immense. It is often the case in deals such as this that 2 and 2 do not make 4 but in this particular case it makes 5.” Paul Dawson said “the two companies have strengths in different sectors as well as organisationally but together these strengths will make a formidable group and we are delighted that in a recession we have demonstrated that it is possible to grow and improve financial stability.” Redburn Transfer will now become a part of a bigger family and will benefit hugely from the marriage with Deben, enabling the company to provide a greater level of service than ever before whilst still maintaining that personal touch.
